The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification have handed Bethesda's Fallout 3 an "RC" rating, effectively making it illegal to sell the game in Australia.
There has been no clarification as to exactly why the game failed to achieve an MA15+ rating, currently the most restricted rating that can be applied to video games in Australia as unlike New Zealand they lack an R16 or R18 designation.
Fortunately we have learned that the full version of Fallout 3 has been submitted to the New Zealand censors and is expected to pass.
Bethesda's Pete Hines, who showed Fallout 3 to Gameplanet in Sydney a short while ago, has not made a comment on the OFLC's decision.
This appears to be yet another monumental failure for the citizens of Australia.
