News has surfaced on the web that last year's critically acclaimed PC real-time strategy title World in Conflict will be coming to consoles in October.

The new title will be called World in Conflict: Soviet Assault, and will also serve as an expansion pack to the PC version of the game.

It will feature a brand new campaign (we're guessing from the title that it might let you play as the Commies --Ed), new units (including a chronoplane, a sort of flying boat) and new multiplayer maps and mods.

An option to call in reinforcements via voice communication using the headset (as per Tom Clancy's EndWar) will also be added.

Soviet Assault is tentatively set to release in October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with no date yet for the PC expansion.
