A program offering 2D game development, called Game Editor, has been updated to version 1.2.6 and is available for free trial for Pocket PC, Windows 95/8, ME, NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Linux.

Game Editor gives users the power to create games "with little or no programming or technical knowledge being required," says creator Makslane Araujo Rodrigues. Examples of viable products include shoot 'em ups, side scrollers, platformers, fighting, arcade, jump and run, puzzle, board, and role playing games.

"Game Editor is an interactive multimedia tool for game development, with strong emphasis on a simple and intuitive interface and a rich set of features. The software allows anyone to develop 2D games for personal computers and mobile devices, with no prior programming experience being required.

"The program can be used for fast design prototyping, allowing users to create and test gameplay, and see the game's look and feel, before committing to the final game concept."

Owners can create trial versions of your games and distribute both trial versions and full versions with no royalties or fees.

The tool is designed to be portable across many different platforms, including Windows (9x, Me, NT, 2000, 2003, XP), Pocket PC and Linux.

Game Editor is priced from US$199. Further information, and the 30 day trial version are available from Game-editor.com.
