Dispel any doubt you may have had. Ozisoft have sent through confirmation that we will indeed get a taste of MGS2 via a playable demo packed in with Zone of the Enders - from Konami. Here's the word from the press release:

"Sydney 15th February, 2001 - Ozisoft, Australia's leading distributor of interactive entertainment software, are proud to announce the release of Konami's Zone of the Enders, for Playstation 2, due for release March 2001.

Hideo Kojima, the visionary behind the Metal Gear Solid series, presents one of the most anticipated PS2 titles so far in Zone of the Enders, an intense action game to rival all others. As an added extra for fans of Kojima's work, ZOE will also include a second disc containing a playable demo of his magnum opus, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Set in the 22nd century, mankind has colonised the solar system with the help of a new fuel called Metatron. Outposts have been established from Earth’s moon to Mars to Jupiter’s lunar colony, Attilla. Mars has succeeded in uniting its sixteen countries under one flag and now seeks independence from Earth. Vascilia, a Martian nation, holds Earth in low regard and has developed a formidable weapon to protect their independence – a massive battle mechanoid known as the orbital frame. Conflicts on Mars have resulted in Orbital Frame development being relocated to Antilla, home of a 100,000 strong colony of labourers that mine the rich Metatron deposits. When the United Nations Space Force secures Attilla to protect its own interests Vascilia’s militant ZOE faction wages war on the colony with devastating results.

Leo Stenbeck is the sidekick in his gang in the Attilla colony. He puts up with a lot of ridicule just to be accepted and often thinks what life would be like without them. When Leo’s gang breaks into an off-limits area of Attilla they are killed in a lethal onslaught from the Vascilian forces. Traumatised, Leo runs blindly into a top-secret hanger that houses the cause of the conflict – the Orbital Frame ‘Jehuty’, an impressive battle suit capable of mass destruction. Seeing nowhere else to hide, Leo enters the cockpit of the prototype as it springs to life.
