Counter-Strike, the Half-Life modification that has taken the online gaming world by storm, will soon hit the shelves at your local gaming store. Sierra Studios and Valve Software announced officially this week that a standalone multiplayer version of Half-Life will be retailed, making it easier to get set up with the latest versions of several top games. The package will include the multiplayer content from the original Half-Life game, as well as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Half-Life: Opposing Force and three new mods created by several top developers.

Counter-Strike will remain freely downloadable despite this new development. Check out the Counter-Strike category in Gameplanet Downloads to download the latest version, or visit the official Counter-Strike Web site for more information about the game.
