Not content with its stake in the Battle Royale genre, PUBG Corp is turning it's attention to an all-new narrative experience set in the PUBG world.
The studio today announced that Glen Schofield has come aboard as the CEO of a new studio, Striking Distance. Schofield has an impressive history, where he co-founded Sledgehammer Games and worked as the co-director on several Call of Duty titles including WWII and Advanced Warfare.
In a video announcing the new studio, Schofield stated, "as a creative, the freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities, which I view as beyond the battle royale genre".
As to what precisely this "narrative experience" will be is anyone's guess. PUBG doesn't exactly feel ripe for story-telling potential, but Schofield's past projects make for one hell of an impressive body of work.
While we don't have any further info on what players should expect from a story-driven experience in the PUBG universe, I'm intrigued to see what the company does to expand on the world they've created.
What do you think about the news? Are you interested in a story-driven PUBG game or would you prefer an outright sequel?
