What was meant to be a free trial period now looks to be an ongoing feature, as Bethesda confirmed today that the battle royale mode Nuclear Winter will continue indefinitely.
"With all the excitement and popularity, we wanted to let you know that the pre-beta sneak peek of Nuclear Winter will remain on and continue to receive updates," said Bethesda on its official blog.
Bethesda announced the limited time event (LTE) during its E3 Showcase, which pits 52 players against each other. The sole survivor is rewarded the role of Overseer for Vault 51, which grants them access to the vault's mysteries.
The event was originally slated to run from June 10 – 17, however a strong response from the community has prompted Bethesda to continue support for Nuclear Winter.
"We’ve been blown away by the reactions and responses we’ve been seeing all week to Nuclear Winter," said the developer.
"It has been so amazing to read all your experiences and see everything you’ve been sharing. There are so many incredible up-and-coming Overseers! Vault 51 is lucky."
During E3, Bethesda also confirmed that human NPCs would be coming to the online title in the upcoming 'Wastelanders' update that is expected to fix a number of complaints that Fallout 76 has faced in the last year.
