The speaker line-up and awards finalists for next month’s Play By Play festival have been announced.

Those presenting at the festival include developers from Runaway Play, PikPok, and Magic Leap, alongside a swathe of smaller indies from Australia and New Zealand.

You can see the full speaker line-up here.

This year, the festival’s awards will celebrate games based on deliverables and expression, and feature two awards for individuals within the NZ industry.

The awards list includes “That Game That We Couldn’t Put Down”, “That World We Didn’t Want To Leave”, and “That Game With The Message”.

The two new awards are Te Maunga Kai Kapua (Teina) and Te Maunga Kai Kapua (Tuakana), which will recognise professionals within the local industry. The former will be awarded to a rising star in the New Zealand game industry, while the latter will go to a stalwart industry pillar in the New Zealand community who has raised the profile and helped build the national industry into what it is today.

You can see all the award categories here.
