Aussie developer Team Cherry has lifted the lid on the third and final free expansion for its fantastic Metroidvania Hollow Knight.

Gods & Glory follows on from last year's expansions The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams by introducing a new character and quest, more boss fights, a new game mode, new music, and special Glorify Charms.

"Of course, other surprises will be hiding about the place, but we can’t spoil all the fun," Team Cherry said.

It had this to say regarding new character The Godseeker: "Track down this disturbing yet alluring being, break her chains and aid her in an ancient duty."

Gods and Glory can be accessed at any point in Hollow Knight and is coming early this year for free to all players.

In other news, the Switch version of Hollow Knight is now hitting Team Cherry's frame-rate target of 60, and it will be released following "cleaning up lots of little niggling bits alongside some serious testing".

All of the optimisations happening for the Switch version will be making their way into versions for PC, Mac, and Linux.

Last November, Team Cherry also revealed it had been speaking with Microsoft and Sony about getting the game onto Xbox One and PlayStation 4
