RocketWerkz has capped a busy year with the release of space management sim Stationeers onto Steam's Early Access platform.

The Dunedin studio released standalone expansion Out of Ammo: Death Drive in August, and yesterday revealed neo-noir adventure Living Dark, a new teaser for which was released today.

Stationeers was due to hit Early Access in September, but the addition of extra mechanics saw its release delayed.

RocketWerkz estimates it will be in Early Access for about a year, and at full release its price will probably increase substantially.

Stationeers puts you in control of the construction and management of a space station either by yourself in single player, or online multiplayer with your friends.

Inspired by the beloved Space Station 13, it features complex atmospheric, electrical, manufacturing, medical, agriculture, and gravitational systems, full physics, and various dangerous environments to explore and develop including exotic planets and asteroid belts.

It also boasts fully deformable voxel terrain on worlds and asteroids, flyable motherships, livestock and plants that are useful not only for food, but also as a integral part of your station’s atmospherics, and more.

"This is not a casual game," the studio warns.

"Stationeers is designed for hardcore players who want a game that is systems oriented. Full utilization and optimization of these complex systems will only come from great knowledge and practice.

"The game presents a variety of science-based survival problems that you must address. Resource and time pressures will drive your initial designs, but the demands of a thriving station will guide you later."

RocketWerkz has already patched the game to fix a locker bug, and is warning that the game's current thermodynamics model can mean welders stored with fuel tanks are prone to explode.
