The developers of World of Tanks are launching a dedicated Australia/NZ server on November 1, but it will only be available part-time.

This server will only be available from 6pm to 12am AEDT, which is 8pm to 2am NZT.

Publisher Wargaming said the server will provide ANZ players with faster ping rates and greater connectivity.

Wargaming’s ANZ country manager Travis Plane said he hoped the launch of a local server would introduce new players to its games, as well as bring back lapsed players.

“As our player numbers grow and the matchmaking continues to improve, we plan to widen these hours and are aiming for a full-time local server in 2018,” said Plane.

He said a local server had been the number one request from the ANZ Wargaming community.

“It’s a long time coming but we hope that our players and the community can see that we’re truly committed to investing in Australia and New Zealand,” Plane said.

Wargaming said World of Tanks has been played by 130 million PC players worldwide.
