Hand of Fate 2 will launch on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on November 7, Defiant Development has announced.
A new trailer for the Aussie action RPG reveals a new companion, the Indomitable Ariadne of Stiegal.
Here's what Defiant Development had to say about her:
A powerful melee warrior, Ariadne brings a keen blacksmith’s eye to the battlefield, shattering the armor of even the sturdiest opponents. On the tabletop, her boundless optimism allows her to duplicate chance cards, dramatically improving the player’s odds of success. Players will meet her properly in the Strength Challenge, though keen-eyed adventurers may encounter her earlier than that.
"HoF2 has blossomed into a project that we are deeply proud of, with noticeable improvements to every element of the original game," said the studio.
"It’s massive, too. What was intended to be a game of equal length to HoF1 has transformed into something roughly four times the size, bursting with new characters, new enemies and a fantastic variety of new challenges.
"We think Hand of Fate 2 is the best game Defiant Development has ever produced, and we can’t wait to share it with you."
Defiant Development successfully crowdfunded the original Hand of Fate in 2013 to the tune of AU$50,000, and the completed game was downloaded about 2.2 million times after its release in 2015.
We enjoyed the Hand of Fate a fair amount – particularly its charismatic dealer.
"Hand of Fate might just be one of the most instantly-atmospheric games this reviewer has ever encountered," wrote Gameplanet reviewer Chris Brown in his review of the first title last year.
"It only really becomes tedious down the stretch, when repetition sets in and the combat grows stale. Until then, it's a unique concoction with a wonderfully lively Dealer and some interesting ideas."
Hand of Fate: Ordeals, a tabletop adaptation of the game, recently smashed the Australian Kickstarter record for most-funded board game.
