Open world survival beat 'em up Dead Rising 4 is coming to PlayStation 4, almost a year to the day after Microsoft published the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions.

The game made its way onto Steam in March.

Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package will launch for PlayStation 4 on December 5, and it includes the core game, all DLC and bonus content, and Capcom Heroes – a mode that allows Frank West to wear more than a dozen outfits and perform outrageous special attacks inspired by classic Capcom characters.

Capcom Heroes mode will come to the game on Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10 as a free update on December 5.

Dead Rising 1, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record were all released on PlayStation, but Dead Rising 2: Case West, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, and Dead Rising 3 were not.

Dead Rising 4 received a mixed reception on Xbox One and PC.

The main complaints were that several key mechanics from the series had been dropped, including its signature race-the-lock element, 'everything is a weapon' attitude, and highly reactive zombies.

At an investor meeting in February, Capcom Vancouver said it was trying to make the series more accessible.

"Compared to the series up to now, this game was made more approachable in order to allow a wider audience to enjoy it," the studio said.

"However, there was a wider range of opinions for the new game. Moving forward, we intend to grow unit sales on a continuous basis by releasing additional digital download content while implementing updates for improvements."
