Activision Blizzard Studios announced today that its first show, Skylanders Academy, will stream on Netflix later this year.
Based on the publisher's eponymous toys-to-life franchise, Skylanders Academy follows the Skylanders team as they take on various enemies and show a new wave of cadets how to defend their world.
Lead characters will include Spyro, Stealth Elf, and Eruptor, voiced by Justin Long, Ashley Tisdale, and Jonathan Banks, respectively.
The show also sees Emmy award-winner Sander Schwartz (The Batman, The Aquabats!, and Justice League: The New Frontier) on board as executive producer.
A 2-year deal between Activision Blizzard and Netflix will initially see two seasons of the show produced.
This announcement comes as the toys-to-life market is in decline, with Disney's foray into the market ending earlier this year in the closure of Disney Infinity developer Avalanche Software.
Activision's latest in the series, Skylanders Imaginators, will release October 13, and will include the recently announced Crash Bandicoot character.
