It seems Valve is entering the hardware space after all.

A job listing for an industrial designer has popped up on Valve's website, and makes things pretty clear: "we're frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space, so we're jumping in”.

While specific projects aren’t mentioned, the ad states that "even in basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven't really changed much in any meaningful way over the years", perhaps pointing towards development of a previously-rumoured wearable computer project by the company.

"There's a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked," it continues.

Rumours of hardware development by Valve are fairly common; earlier this year it was suggested that Valve was working on a Steam box console.
