Just Cause may be coming to the silver screen.
In news announced by Variety, Eric Eisner's L+E Pictures has optioned the film rights to the game franchise, and will begin development shortly,
Producer Adrian Askarieh is attached to the project, and plans to assist the production company "before shopping it to the studios." Michael Ross will pen the script, having previously written the 2006 American horror movie Turistas.
It remains to be seen exactly how Rico Rodriguez will be presented, no doubt a point of contention for fans of the series.
Eisner formed L+E Pictures in 2006, and produced Hamlet 2, which was acquired at Sundance in 2008 by Focus Features for USD $10m. The first game, published by Eidos in 2006, went on to sell over a million units. The sequel, released in March, has already doubled that.
