SEGA has confirmed today that Vanquish will be available in the west this summer (NZT) for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The announcement dispels previous hopes that the game would be released in western markets simultaneously with Japan.
In Vanquish, players take control of Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battle suit. Set in a near future world, the US and Russia compete for fast-diminishing energy resources. A space station built by the US to harness the power of the sun has been captured by the Russians and turned into a weapon of mass destruction, destroying San Francisco. Sam and others like him have been charged with recapturing the station before it can destroy its next target, New York.
The game is the brainchild of celebrated director Shinji Mikami, possibly best known for the creation of the Resident Evil series.
