Rebellion has confirmed today that it will close its Derby studio and terminate a number of junior positions at its larger Oxford offices. Since January, the developer has been reviewing its operations.

"Sadly we didn’t find any solution other than closure for the Derby studio," CEO Jason Kingsley told gamesindustry.biz. "At the same time as we were considering the options for the Derby studio, we were also looking at our staff needs in Oxford, given shifting business models and opportunities.

"We've have good results over the last year working with outsourcing partners and this has resulted in a small handful of junior roles in the Oxford office no longer being needed."

Formerly Eidos’ Core Design team, Rebellion’s Derby studio is perhaps best known for its work on the Tomb Raider series.

Rebellion’s most recent release is Aliens vs. Predator.

Kingsley also confirmed that the developer is working on two unannounced titles and will continue to work on downloadable content for AvP.
