Activision has today confirmed that they’re working with toy manufacturer Hasbro on a new Transformers title called the War for Cybertron.
Developed by High Moon Studios, the game is set on the Transformers’ home planet of cybertron before the Autobots and the Decepticons extended the frontier of war to Earth.
Told in two campaigns, the Autbots storyline describes how the heroes try to save cybertron, while the Decepticon storyline describes the opposite. For the first time in a Transformers game, online co-op will be available.
In a press statement, Hasbro’s Aaron Archer said, “For the first time Hasbro is working with Activision to drive the Transformers fiction forward into new story arcs, demonstrating pivotal moments in Transformers history that defined who they are." He continued, "This remarkable video game helps us to tell a critical event in Transformers lore that will be used as canon for future storylines in a way we could have only dreamed of a few years ago."
Tranformers: War for Cybertron is in development for Xbox 360, PS3, DS, PC and Wii.
