Spike TV’s Video Game Awards celebrated its tenth anniversary over the weekend by showering Telltale Games with honours.

Telltale's episodic adventure title The Walking Dead took out Game of the Year, Best Downloadable Game, and Best Adapted Video Game at Saturday night's ceremony. In addition, Telltale won Best Studio, and Melissa Hutchison won Best Performance by a Human Female for her role as Clementine in the game.

Elsewhere, Half-Life 2 won Best Game of the Decade, beating out Batman: Arkham City, BioShock, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Mass Effect 2, Portal, Red Dead Redemption, Shadow of the Colossus, Wii Sports, and World of Warcraft.

Notably, Journey won Best Independent Game over Dust: An Elysian Tail, Fez, and Mark of the Ninja.

Although not marred by embarrassing incidents like last year’s teabagging fiasco, the awards nonetheless remained inessential, and featured the usual celebrity admissions of geekiness, opaque nomination and voting systems, and general audience pandering.
