Long-time Xbox Live users are receiving special Xbox 360 consoles in the mail to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the online service.

There hasn’t been official confirmation regarding the gifts from Microsoft, although Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb tweeted yesterday that anniversary celebrations were planned.

The gifted consoles are grey 250GB versions with “XBL10” emblazoned on the disc tray, and come with a silver controller and a 12-month subscription to Xbox Live.

“You are receiving this custom-designed Xbox Live 10 Year Anniversary console and 12-months of LIVE FREE as a token of our appreciation for your commitment and loyalty to our service over the past decade,” reads a letter accompanying the console.

In related news, Microsoft has added Quickflix to Xbox Live in Australia and New Zealand.

The service offers subscribers online DVD and Blu-ray disc rental-by-mail, as well as instant streaming.
