So, that's it then.
E3 for 2010 is pretty much officially over. The announcement has just come over the loudspeaker and we're being thrown out of the hall.
We've gone hard out with our coverage this year, despite having one less person and a lot less sleep. Interviews, hands-on demos, Q&A sessions and just plain old playing games, hopefully you've found something useful in the mix of Gameplanet's coverage. Personally, this has been the best E3 I've been to (technically only the second, but that's a good gradient of progress). The range of booth tours and behind-closed-doors I have experienced this year was a welcome change from last time, getting to speak to developers and producers of videogames has been an eye opening experience and something I had always wanted to do. Today being the last day in a five day stretch of minimal sleep, greasy food and smoggy sunshine, we're all a little dull. Hopefully the end-of-E3 drinks with Sony this evening will perk me up.
I got to chat with the Civilization V producer this afternoon, his game is looking like a proper tune up of the franchise. Religions are out, ranged units are back in and the whole combat tactics system has been overhauled. Quite exciting to see. Dead Space 2 looks like a phenomenal sequel, the new weapons (javelin gun!!!) and puzzles serve to follow up the atmospheric original with terrifying aplomb. Medal of Honor on the PS3 looks like great fun when played up close, a change of mind from when I saw it in the EA press briefing three days ago. One to keep an eye on for fans of first person shooters. Back in the third-person, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer was great fun. Even a total noob to the series like me can get the hang of it, sneaking around, killing and grappling with ease. Stab stab!
Right, at the moment my head feels like a sewer grate. It's keeping the lid on a whole bunch of crap, but it's not looking too flash. I'm going to take a nap under a palm tree and get back to writing up more of what I have seen before heading home.
Thanks for reading so far!
