Game of the Year - 2011 Bronze Medal - Batman: Arkham City3rd: Batman: Arkham City (Rocksteady)

We said: 9.5/10. "Batman returns in the spectacular follow-up to 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady have once again produced an epic action title brimming with polish and sophistication, and entirely worthy of the Dark Knight's rich superhero lore.

"Arkham City does what everyone hoped it would yet feared it couldn’t; expand and improve on Arkham Asylum. Indeed, Arkham City is a bigger and better game in all regards, delivering an immaculately presented, rich, compelling play experience and gripping story while simultaneously respecting its source material’s legacy and pushing the Batman myth further forward". We said: 9.0/10. "The campaign may be pants, and the co-op may struggle to find a niche, but DICE knows multiplayer – that much is evident. In this regard, Battlefield 3 exceeds expectations.

"Whether flapping about above the conflict in an airborne steed, or wriggling slowly through the undergrowth as a hated sniper, Battlefield 3 evokes its ancestral excellence in all things multiplayer to once again up the bar, and herald in a new age of technical dominance over the first-person shooter genre." Game of the Year - 2011 Winner - The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimGameplanet Players’ Choice Game of the Year 2011:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)

Skyrim has utterly dominated the vote pool this year, easily scooping the top prize. Bethesda's massive open-world RPG has endeared itself to a legion of fans, smashing sales records and sapping dozens of hours of productivity for most devotees. As we wrote in our review (9.5/10):

"Skyrim represents the most ambitious undertaking thus far from Bethesda Game Studios. It's a stunning example of the pursuit of perfection, remarkable in its scope, and nearly flawless in its execution.

"Where Oblivion may have caused many to sit on the fence when faced with any new Elder Scrolls release, Skyrim stands tall in redemption. It is, without any shadow of doubt, the best RPG experience available right now." (Read more)

Our very warmest congratulations to everyone at Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks from the team at Gameplanet.
